‘The food you eat can be either the safest and most powerful form of medicine or the slowest form of poison’ - Ann Wigmore
My experience of alternative medicine has been lifelong. My mother use to take me to a homeopath as a child and my father would drink probiotics drinks like kombucha and talk about the medicinal effect of different foods, I never understood it!
I’ve always been a bit of a nerd ( I need to understand it all) and graduated with a First in Finance. I worked in Investment Banking for a few years before taking some time off to have my children. It was then, when I hit my 30′s, and was diagnosed with an auto-immune condition, hormonal issues (PCOS) an ulcer and was heading down the road of adreanal fatigue that I started to contemplate and appreciate my very holistic past.
I didn’t want to take a pill for every ill that I had. I would read the possible side effects on the pack and it would scare me. Even when I had my endoscopy (when they discovered my ulcer) I was afraid to be put to sleep and stayed awake for the entire procedure. It was this that rekindled my interest in alternative medicine and I embarked on a 3 year journey to retrain in Nutritional Therapy.
Along the way I have managed to drop all the above listed diagnosis and never took a pill for any of them. I believe passionately and completely in the power of food in being able to help to restore equilibrium.
I connected my dots to understand what was going on, why it was going on and how I could help myself get better. I looked for the root cause and saw how it was impacting all the other system. I helped myself. Now it’s what I do for my clients every single day!
I graduated from the College of Naturopathic Medicine (CNM). I am a member of BANT and CNHC. They are the largest association in the UK carrying a global recognition and setting industry standards. It ensures best practise for therapists and their clients. I am also a member of the Institute of Functional Medicine in the USA and train with them regularly.
